The amazing kindness of strangers!!

We got a very nice Christmas surprise, from a family who doesn't even know us. A few years ago, one of our former christian school families (who've since moved to Pella) decided to change their Christmas gift giving. Instead of giving gifts to each other, they decided to pool their money for one common goal. Each of their children take turns deciding where the gift should be given. The gift is given on behalf of their parents. This year the Sully Christian School was chosen to receive this gift, as this is where they all started. One of the grandsons in this family has Autism. He is in a great school, where he can learn and advance. They are aware that not all schools have the funds for the additional items needed to teach a child with a disability and as a result these items are not purchased, or they are purchased by the teachers themselves.

As you all know Marcus was also diagnosed with Autism. During a discussion between the family and our school, it has been decided that the funds would go to purchase needed items for Marcus!!! I can't tell you what a blessing this is to us!! Ironically Marcus is currently being evaluated by our local Area Education Agency's Assistive Technology specialist, to see if there are things available that will help Marcus. For example, Marcus struggles with writing. Therefore when he's asked to complete a spelling test, we are not sure if he has mastered the skill because we often can't read his writing. So, if there is a technology available to help Marcus advance in school this gift will give us and his school the ability to provide him with it!!!

Isn't that the most amazing gift? God bless this amazing family!!!
